How to get to SOLARIS

The National Synchrotron Radiation Centre SOLARIS building is located in the southern part of Krakow. The exact location of the Centre can be found on the map.

To get to the Centre from the bus or train station:

From the Krakow Główny main train station, you can get to SOLARIS by tram using line 52 in the direction of Czerwone Maki P&R. Get on the tram at the Dworzec Główny stop and get off at the Chmieleniec stop, then return a few steps in the direction you came from, turn left just past the Ericsson building and go straight along ul. Luciany Frassati-Gawrońskiej to the end.

Information on bus and tram timetables can be found on the MPK Department of Transport in Krakow website. We also recommend using the Jakdojade.pl or E-podroznik websites, which allows you easily find connections and plan your trip. E-podroznik is available in English.

A single journey tickets costs 3,8 PLN (1 euro) per person. They can be bought from vending machines and some newspaper stands. Do not forget to validate your ticket after boarding the vehicle!

To get to SOLARIS from Kraków Airport:

The airport in Balice is located about 11 kilometres from the centre of the city. A direct trip from the airport to the Centre is possible only by taxi. 24-hour taxi service is provided by Krakow Airport Taxi, and taxis can be ordered by phone at +48 12 258 0 258 or on-line (website in English). The cost of the journey is about 89 PLN (22 Euro).

Alternatively, it is possible to use public transport with a short stopover. First take the train to the Krakow Główny main train station, then tram 52 from the station to the National Synchrotron Radiation Centre building. 

Trains run from Krakow Airport to Krakow Główny every hour from 5:00 a.m. to 00:30 a.m. and the fare is 9 PLN (about 2 Euro). Detailed information on connections including timetables can be found on Krakow Airport website and the Malopolskiekoleje.pl website (both sites available in English). It is possible to buy tickets online.
